Epilepsy & Dravet syndrome Research Underfunded

Epilepsy funding ranks lower than breast cancer, a disease which has similar prevalance and incidence to epilepsy,  for NIH funding.  Dravet syndrome currently does not recieve ANY funding from NIH although, although this syndrome is similar in incidence and prevalence to Cystic Fibrosis, which receives $86M per year in research funding from the NIH – that is $3440 per patient per year. Breast cancer and Cystic Fibrosis advocates have provided much funding for these diseases over the years and as a result of well funded initial studies by advocacy groups  for these diseases, NIH funding has been within reach.  Let’s join together and raise money and awareness for Intractable and Ion Channel Epilepsy Research!
