Michelle Welborn holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University School of Pharmacy. She serves as President and CEO of Bravo Pharmaceuticals, a small start-up biotech company that will provide novel pharmaceuticals and first to market generic products for rare diseases, including intractable childhood epilepsy.

Peter Haeberli, JD

Peter Haeberli, J.D. joined Merck following the acquisition of Sirna Therapeutics Inc. in 2006. At Sirna, Mr. Haeberli held the position of Director, Intellectual Property, where he was instrumental in the development of the company's intellectual property estate.

Our Alliances

These organizations support our mission and work with or along side of ICE to improve the outcome by funding research and education, raising awareness, promoting the ketogenic diet, and supporting families and children with intractable epilepsy.

As many as 40% of children with epilepsy do not find seizure freedom with anti-epileptic drug therapy and are considered "refractory" , "intractable", or "drug resistant" patients. An astounding 70% of patients suffering from epilepsy do not know what is causing their seizures, and the cause is determined as "idiopathic" or "cryptogenic" .

ICE Statement

The Intractable Childhood Epilepsy Alliance is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to improving lives of children affected by intractable epilepsy through evidence-based information, advocacy for appropriate medical treatment including compassionate use and Orphan drug products, promotion of drug development, data collection through patient registries, and funding of research that will lead to a cure for intractable childhood epilepsies.
